“First of all, there are not enough words in the English language to articulate Nicki Sun and her unique talent for people. I first met Nicki Sun when she offered her expertise to cover our Red Balloon benefit concert. I was impressed by her professionalism with all my artists, but more amazed by her ability to connect to them personally. Not only did she prepare well, she charmingly found ways to give depth to their personalities and portrayed them as human beings rather than rockstars. She always kept me in the loop, an act often overlooked but greatly appreciated. Her interviews always bring a smile to my face; she can work a 3hr event, reduce it to a mere 5 min interview and still capture the heart and soul. I worked with Nicki again on a documentary for the UC Davis Children’s Hospital. Her piece was incredibly beautiful and moving; she shined a light on an issue often blocked from the public eye. She took advantage of every possible opportunity to use her talents, impressing not just me but the hospital staff. She was not only professional, but genuinely personable so everyone felt at ease in front of the camera. She was able to work gracefully and elegantly under a deadline without complaining and still created a very moving piece. Her documentary is now featured on the UC Davis Children’s Hospital website, gaining countless praise by people from all walks of life. Nicki goes out of her way to make sure people are happy and comfortable in front of and behind a camera. “Nicki Sun. She is professional, beautiful, fun, and hardworking. Often at times, you cannot find a combination like that in one person, but with Nicki, the combination exists! I met her officially while taking behind the scenes photographs for the documentary she was filming of Jennifer Allison Tran and UC Davis Children’s Hospital music program. My job was much more enjoyable with her presence because she was enthusiastic about the whole day. This enthusiasm was surprising because she only had a few hours to film and edit her documentary before her deadline. It is quite impressive. She is also able to interact well with her interviewees as well as anyone else that becomes a part of the process of her work or the work of others. I remember assisting her slightly by carrying some of her supplies and holding her microphone extension as she filmed and she was very good at expressing her thanks and gratitude which is often forgotten when one only helps out with the little things. I have sat and watched all of her videos in a day because the work she does are so informative and fun to watch. I’m probably crazy for watching over 100 videos and reading long blog posts, but she is so moving and fun to watch that I could not stop until there was nothing left to watch or read. She works so hard and watching Nicki’s work moves me to tears. I will literally cry watching her videos, but anytime I am feeling down Nicki’s videos always lift me up. She can always make me smile or laugh and that is why I love watching her videos. You can see how passionate Nicki is from watching her videos and reading her blog posts. When she is given a task she goes above and beyond to complete it. She will make sure she got her notes, photos, videos, and anything else she needs for her work. She is constantly on her feet ready to go find people and ask questions. It is fun to watch her work because Nicki makes it look not like work because everyone is so comfortable and always seem like they are having fun. I love how outgoing, funny, and passionate Nicki is because that is what helps people feel comfortable around her. She is just amazing at making the environment fun and comfortable and when I watch her videos I feel like I am actually there also. Not only are her interviews and coverage of events amazing, but her musical covers are amazing also. I love to listen to her play the piano or sing. I would listen to her music on constant replay any day and I would be so happy and moved to tears. Nicki is so inspirational and I love that she does what she loves and is passionate about. I love how passionate and dedicated Nicki is for her causes also. She is always fighting for what she believes in and I love that. When I finally met Nicki I was so happy and I could not believe it. I am still happy about meeting her and I will never forget it. She is someone I will always believe in and love because of all the work she does for other people. Meeting Nicki was truly the best day of my life and getting to meet her was the best birthday gift I could ask for. She is so nice and caring I wish she was my sister. I LOVE NICKI SUN!
